CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING: Special curbside recycling collection during Jan. 5-9, 2009 on regular collection day. Trees are picked up in separate truck. Resident must remove all foreign objects (plastic bags, ornaments, tinsel, lights, etc.). Place tree curbside separate from trash & recyclables. An alternative is to drop off tree at the Hartwell Avenue Compost Facility from 12/27/08 – 1/31/09. ALL FOREIGN OBJECTS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE TREE.
Universal Waste: Starting Sept. 1, 2008 during regular operating hours residents can drop-off certain mercury containing products at the Universal Waste Shed located at 60 Hartwell Ave. Compost Facility. Other hazardous waste will not be accepted at the Universal Waste Shed.
Scrap Metal: Beginning Sept. 1, 2008 a variety of metal items will be accepted in the designated recycling area at 60 Hartwell Ave. Compost Facility. Large appliance listed in the trash guidelines sections must be scheduled for curbside collection ONLY and will NOT be accepted at the drop-off area.
Medical Waste Disposal Day: The Lexington Health Division will hold 4 Medical Waste Disposal Days on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 5pm-7:30pm, Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 9am-12pm, Saturday, April 4, 2009 9am-12pm, and Wednesday, June 3, 2009 5pm-7:30pm at rear entrance to the Town Hall, 1625 Mass Ave. in parking lot behind the building.
