Parking and Road Closures
Tens of thousands of people come to Lexington for Patriots' Day weekend, especially on Monday morning, when many arrive before the 5:30 AM start of the reenactment. Please make sure you plan for road closures and parking.
All non-emergency Town Offices (including Cary Library and the Community Center) will be closed, and no public meetings will be held.

Parking
No-Parking Areas
There will be several places where parking is not allowed, either all weekend or at specific times. These places will have signs. Vehicles parked in these area will be towed.
- No parking Saturday through Monday in spaces next to the Battle Green. Vehicles parked here will be immediately towed.
- Parking for religious services will be allowed Sunday in some areas. Vehicles must be moved after services conclude.
Free Parking
All municipal lots and metered spaces not designated as No Parking will be free Saturday – Monday.
Road Closures and Delays
SATURDAY, APRIL 15
- Battle Green Activities – approx. 10 AM - 4 PM (expect delays)
- Tower Park Reenactment:
- Expect delays approx. 2:30 PM by Munroe Tavern (Mass Ave by Percy Rd).
- Massachusetts Ave from Marrett Rd and Woburn St will be closed to thru traffic from approx. 3:30-5:15 PM.
SUNDAY, APRIL 16
- Battle Green Activities – approx. 10 AM - 4 PM (expect delays)
- Midnight Ride of Paul Revere: 10:30 PM April 17 to 12:30 AM April 18
- Bedford St from Massachusetts Ave and Harrington Rd will be closed.
- Hancock St between Adams St and Bedford St will be closed.
MONDAY, APRIL 17
Battle Green Area - Harrington Rd will be closed all day. Expect delays throughout day in Lexington Center area.
Reenactment:
- Approx. 3:00 AM:
- Bedford St between Harrington Rd and Mass Ave will be closed.
- Approx. 5:00 AM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Worthen Rd to Waltham St will be closed.
- Bedford St from Worthen Rd to Mass Ave will be closed.
- Approx. 5:45 AM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Woburn St to Waltham St will be closed.
**Roads will re-open after most pedestrian traffic is clear of Battle Green area.**
Morning Parade:
- Approx. 6:30 AM - 8 AM:
- Expect delays from Massachusetts Ave by Bloomfield to center area.
- Approx. 07:15 AM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Bloomfield to Woburn St will be closed.
- Approx. 07:25 AM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Bedford to Woburn St will be closed.
- Approx. 07:25 AM:
- Hancock St between Adams St and Bedford St will be closed.
- Approx. 07:25 AM:
- Bedford St between Massachusetts Ave and Worthen Rd will be closed.
- Approx. 07:25 AM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Statue to Worthen Rd will be closed.
Road Race:
- Approx. 09:00-11:30 AM: Expect delays on race course.
- Approx. 09:00 AM: Massachusetts Ave from Statue to Worthen Rd will be closed.
Afternoon Parade:
Parade Route: Massachusetts Ave from Maple St to Worthen Rd; Expect delays at staging area and parade end Worthen Rd by Lincoln St.
- Approx. 12:00 PM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Maple St to Pleasant St Rotary will be closed.
- Approx. 12:45 PM:
- Massachusetts Ave from Worthen Rd to Maple St will be closed.
- Bedford St from Worthen to Massachusetts Ave will be closed.
**Traffic will be directed away from Lexington Center until traffic clears up.**
PARKING INFORMATION
From Saturday April 15 – 17: No enforcement of meter or parking lot fees
- There will be areas posted no parking throughout the entire weekend. Pay attention to areas posted no parking. These areas will be strictly enforced, and vehicles may be towed from restricted areas.
Sunday religious services:
- Parking will be allowed during Sunday services in some areas. Vehicles must be removed at the conclusion of services.
Handicapped Parking:
- Reenactment/Pancake Breakfasts/Morning Parade/Ceremonies/Road Race
- Additional handicapped parking has been added in the Meriam Street Lot.
- For the Afternoon Parade:
- Persons with permits may park along the parade route between Edison Way and the Post Office. Pedestrians and spectators often block their view by standing beside their vehicles. Please do what you can to correct this problem by asking the spectators to step aside.
There will be no parking allowed in the spaces adjoining the Battle Green for the entire weekend. This area will be strictly enforced, and illegally parked vehicles will be towed immediately.
