This group will meet to address specific mental health and wellness challenges in a supportive learning environment. It will be led by Penny Tsiounis LCSW, the Manager of Youth & Family Services.
The function of this group will be to provide a safe and supportive afterschool learning environment, and to engage students in activities that both challenge and support their acquisition of skills. The areas that we will address include: building coping skills, self-care, sleep hygiene, anxiety, depression, self-reg and mindfulness skills, interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork/leadership skills, self-esteem, collaborative communication and stress. Each session will be structured to include a themed activity, as well as a group discussion based on the interests and opinions of both the group members and facilitator. Additionally, our intention will be to have group members provide feedback in between sessions, so as to guide our future discussion topics and activities. Our goal will be to create a safe learning environment, so that students can learn ways to improve their individual health and wellness without fear or judgement from others.
