    • Birthplace of Lexington Little League: Many years ago at this site the small garage and a service station sign once stood. It was owned and operated then by William P. "Bill" Fitzgerald of Lexington; one of many of the town's beloved sons. On an early spring morning in 1950 Bill met here at his office with Police Chief John W Rycroft, Bank President Sam Parker, and local businessman Tony Modoono to discuss plans that would eventually lead to the birth of Little League baseball in Lexington - a vision they would one day realize with borrowed money and countless days and nights of hard work. Although sandlots had long since witnessed play during earlier times the first official Lexingot Little League game was played three years later at what is now knows as "Fitzgerald Field".
