Town Manager Seeks Volunteers for Bedford St/Hartwell Ave Area Transportation Improvements Advisory Group

Hartwell Avenue Map

Town Manager James Malloy is seeking 5-7 members to serve on an advisory group focused on the 25% design plan for the Bedford Street/Hartwell Avenue Area transportation improvements. Town Meeting recently appropriated funds for the 25% design.

This opportunity is open to any Lexington resident who is interested, as the project will impact the broader community.

To gain a well-rounded perspective, the suggested membership should include representatives from:

  • Businesses in the Hartwell Avenue area
  • Residents in the area of Hartwell Avenue/Bedford Street/Wood Street
  • Residents with an interest in one or more of the following areas:
    • Open space/conservation
    • Economic development
    • Transportation
  • Bicycle groups

The Select Board needs to endorse an alternative transportation design that will be submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The Advisory Group will be tasked with gathering public input, though not necessarily consensus, on a feasible design alternative that will be submitted to the Board for consideration.

Fill out an application and submit it to Cathy Severance in the Town Manager's Office either via email at, or in person on the 2nd floor of the Town Office Building, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue.
