In 2012 the Lexington Center Committee (LCC), dedicated to enhancing the vitality of the Center, created a subcommittee composed of business owners, residents and town staff, known as the Parking Management Group (PMG).
The PMG began exploring ways to improve the management of the Town Center’s existing parking inventory. As part of this effort a consultant was hired to collect data on Center parking demand as well as conduct a robust survey of users – from shoppers and lunch-goers to employees, tourists, and commuters.
Over a nine month process the PMG worked with the consultant to assemble data, present findings and gather public input. The information collected and public feedback received were used to develop parking strategies/recommendations designed to improve the availability of parking in Lexington Center.
On Monday, June 2nd 2014 the "Lexington Center Parking Management and Implementation Plan" was presented to the Board of Selectmen (BOS). The BOS received the Plan and instructed the PMG to move forward with the first phase of improvement requests. Shortly after, the PMG which had been operating as a subcommittee to the LCC became a Town Manager appointed working group.
