Update 6/16/20 – Update on Permitted Use of Athletic Fields

A limited number of athletic fields will be opening for permitted use in the coming weeks!  Our department is working with DPW to prioritize and prepare the most requested fields to ensure fields are ready for use.  Lincoln Park is anticipated to open the week of June 22nd, with the natural grass fields at the Center Recreation Complex to follow during the week of June 29th.  At this time, use of the fields is limited to only skills and drills.  Scrimmages, games and tournament play are not allowed in this phase.  More information on Phase 2 can be found here.

In order to obtain a permit, you must first submit a field permit application online.  You will be asked to upload 3 files in order to complete your request. These files are:

  1. Season Rosters
  2. Certificate of Insurance for at least $1 million with the Town of Lexington listed as a secondary insurer,
  3. CORI Letter stating any volunteers have been independently background checked through your organization.

If you do not have updated files, please upload the most current information.  A confirmed permit will be processed once all information is up-to-date and current.  All requests will be processed based on the field policy and field availability.

A league organizer will be required to attend a meeting to review the Lexington-specific guidelines for field use. Organizers will be required to share the guidelines to all participants, parents, volunteers and coaches.  It is a requirement that all Lexington-specific guidelines as well as Massachusetts guidelines are met at all times in order to keep participants, volunteers, coaches and spectators safe.

The Lexington Recreation and Community Programs Department has the right to revoke any permits issued for violating any of the guidelines.

Staff have reviewed the guidelines Governor Baker released on Monday, May 18th and are now determining how to best implement them to allow for a safe reopening of the Town's recreational programs, services, facilities, and infrastrucure.  As services resume, a phased approach where the health, safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers and patrons guides us towards full restoration of services will be implemented.  A measured approach and adhering to the guidelines is necessary to ensure forward progress and to prevent further closures.

Please be sure to check our website and follow us on Facebook and Instagram during the upcoming weeks as they will be updated when more information becomes available.  Thank you for your continued patience and understanding, be well, and stay healthy!
