To the Lexington community,
On Tuesday, June 2nd, the Recreation Committee voted unanimously to keep the Irving H. Mabee Town Pool Complex closed to the public for the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of all staff and patrons. Due to the fluidity of this virus, there is no way to fully guarantee a safe environment for the community. Even with the proper guidelines, personal protective equipment (PPE), and precautions in place, it would be very difficult to achieve this goal.
Staff have worked tirelessly with local, state, and national organizations who operate outdoor swimming pools, Recreation Departments, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to understand best practices towards a reopening plan. The information that was collected includes the guidelines required to operate safely. This information along with the Recreation Department’s available resources led to a recommendation to the Recreation Committee to keep the facility closed to the public for the 2020 season. Many surrounding towns have already made the very difficult decision to close their pools for this season.
We appreciate your continued support through the years and we look forward to having you back for the 2021 season!
The Old Reservoir will be closed for summer of 2020 for renovations to the bathhouse!
7/8/20 Update: The project has been delayed due to the bids coming in higher than the approved budget. We are looking into alternatives to try to get the project completed in a timely manner.
Community members are reminded that the Old Reservoir bathhouse and beach on Marrett Road are closed for the 2020 season.
The walking trails outside of the beach area are open for public access.
For everyone's safety, please refrain from accessing the beachfront this season, including after dark.

The Old Reservoir, (CLOSED FOR SUMMER 2020 for renovations)
The Recreation and Community Programs Department operates two outdoor swimming facilities during the summer months. The Irving H. Mabee Town Pool Complex operates from the end of June to early September and is open to only Lexington residents, unless you purchase a Non-resident swim pass or come with a pass holder.
The Irving H. Mabee Town Pool Complex, located on Worthen Road at the Center Recreation Complex, is also open seven days per week. On weekdays, a variety of programs including American Red Cross Swim Classes, Adult Lap Swim, Diving Lessons, Adult Aqua Aerobics, and Swim Team share pool space, but generally the public swim hours are weekdays 12:45 - 4:30 PM and 7:00 - 8:45 PM
The Lexington Recreation and Community Programs is happy to announce the addition of a brand new splash pad with multiple spray features and jets at the Iriving H. Mabee Town Pool Complex. This will be the perfect place to bring the kids to cool off this summer. Also new at the pool will be a fully functioning transaction station as well as a family changing room.
The Recreation and Community Programs Department sells season passes to the aquatic facilities, including a limited number of non-resident family memberships that go on sale in April. The swim pass is valid at both the Town Pool and the Old Reservoir. Residents may opt to pay a daily fee at either facility instead of purchasing a swim pass. In early June, swim passes can be purchased at the pool.
