Memorial Day Ceremonies

Monday, May 27, 2019

Wreath laying ceremonies will be held at 8:45 AM at the Main Fire Station and 9:00 AM at Westview Cemetery.

The Memorial Day Parade steps off from the Police Station at 10:00 AM. The parade stops at Munroe Cemetery to honor our Civil War veterans, then moves along Massachusetts Avenue to the Battle Green, stopping at several memorials along the way for a wreath laying ceremony.

The Parade arrives at the Green for the Memorial Day Ceremony at approximately 11:20 AM

Jim Ramsey will be this year's Parade Grand Marshall and keynote speaker. Jim earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and was commissioned in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps in 1966 through ROTC. In his tour with the SEABEES of U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 62 (1968-1969) he completed two deployments to Vietnam, first as Administrative Officer in Da Nang and later as Company Commander in Dong Ha.

Jim is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lexington Veterans’ Association. Speaking on the topic, “Lives That Touched Mine”, Jim will offer a personal tribute to the 30 veterans, now deceased, whom he served as a volunteer at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Library in Bedford.
