There is a need for more bike instructors and this 3-Day seminar by the League of American Bicyclists is for people interested in becoming certified bike instructors! The League is also looking to diversify its instructor pool, and there are scholarships for people of color interested in taking this course.
PRE-REQUISITES: You need to have taken Smart Cycling for Adults in order to register. If you haven't yet taken Smart Cycling, it is being offered again in Lexington on Saturday, September 18. Visit www.lexbikewalkbus.org for more details or to sign up for Smart Cyclilng for Adults. (Scholarship candidates for LCI training can have the Smart Cycling fee waived. The approximate schedule for the 3-Day Seminar, which is being hosted at Lexington Community Center is:
Friday, 10/22, 5pm-9pm
Saturday, 10/23, 8am-9pm
Sunday, 10/24, 8am-3pm
You will need to bring your bike, helmet, water, lunch/dinner, and appropriate gear for outdoor riding in the evening and daytime. Much of the course work, however, will be classroom instruction on how to properly instruct people of all ages on how to be safe and comfortable bike riding.
