There are a variety of services to assist residents in getting to/from medical appointments and treatments. In addition to those listed below, contact your medical provider as they may also have transportation services.
FISH offers free transportation to/from medical appointments. Rides must be scheduled two days in advance. Fish is closed weekends and holidays. During the months of June-August, they are also closed on Fridays. Call 781-861-9300 (between the hours of 9AM-1PM) to schedule a ride. FISH has been operating since 1972 to help Lexington residents get to their medical appointments.
The Road to Recovery Program provides transportation to/from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. Please contract the American Cancer Society for details: 1-800-227-2345
Neighbor Brigade helps locals dealing with a temporary crisis (i.e. a critical illness or sudden family tragedy) with no specific timeline on services. Transportation to hospitals or medical centers for ongoing treatments is one of the services offered. Call for more info: 781-325-8580.
Disabled Veterans of America has volunteer drivers that offer rides to disabled veterans who have medical appointments scheduled at military facilities or Veteran Administration hospitals. Call for more info: 781-275-7500 Ext. 2999.
MassHealth members who need non-emergency transportation to/from medical appointments may be eligible for free transportation services. Eligible members who use public transportation can get reimbursement for their transportation expenses. Eligible members who need dial-a-ride services can get van or taxi service free of charge.
